This is my post for day 2 of Spellbound's Blogging Challenge - Why I decided to Start a Blog.
1) I currently have the time now. I’ve tried to start blogs before but real life time commitments always got in the way. Since I am now without a job and just waiting for some paperwork to go through for university I figured now would be a great time to finally get a blog up and running.
2) I love learning new things and the interwebs mystify me. I’ve read numerous blogs for years now but I always wondered what it was like behind the scenes. How do you set one up? What is SEO? How do you get words to appear on a page that everyone else can see without e-mail? I figured the best way to learn about these things was to simply do it and learn along the way. So far it’s been great fun and I’m really enjoying it.
3) I’ve played Warcraft since vanilla and I’ve always loved the auction house. I’ve seen the amount of gold I have skyrocket over the years as I’ve learned more and more about gold making. At the same time I am constantly surprised in game by how little gold a lot of players seem to have. Combine this with the inspiration other, older gold making sites provided (such as JMTC, Cold's Gold Factory, and Alto's Goldish Advice) and my previous expierience in teaching and blogging about how to make gold in Warcraft seemed to be a natural for me.

What about you? Do you have a blog - and if so, why did you start? If you don't have a blog have you ever though of starting one?
I decided to start a blog because I thought I had some knowledge to share - and because on first pass I didn't find a whole lot out there - just some stuff on wowwiki.
ReplyDeleteAs the idea took shape and I prepared some stuff in writing and got started on the project, I realized there were some blogs already out there, some long established.
I had no idea just how many there were :)
(still don't!)
Looking forward to the next installments...
I started to blog because I thought the quality of sone of the larger gold-making blogs was faltering. The other main reason was that gold-making has been such an enjoyable hobby I figured I wouldn't get bored and lose interest in blogging about it.
ReplyDeleteThey say it takes 20,000 hours of practice to master a subject. I'd put in the time so I decided to share.
I used to blog regularly for my photography site but once I found WoW, it died rapidly, as did my facebook & twitter accounts!
ReplyDeleteI started my blog with my AH Alt experiment as most of the blogs I read, didn't really cover the lowbie/startup stuff. I found one guy starting a 30 day speed run & decided to jog along - unfortunately real life messed up his plans & I haven't seen him in a while :( But I kept going, made some nice new acquaintances & got a buzz over reader visits so 4 months on, I'm still going :)
