My Most Devious Gold Making Tactic

This is my post for the June Blogging Carnival at JMTC. This month Mageshadow is asking "What is our most devious gold making tactic".

My most devious tactic is generating extra buzz for my sales with my second account. Because I have two computers and two accounts I am able to play two toons at once. I use this to my advantage by having my second toon talk about the item in trade. This works exceedingly well for Mysterious Fortune Cards but I've also been using it lately for other high value items.

With Mysterious Fortune Cards I usually have my second toon exclaim that he won the 5,000 gold prize and have him link the card in chat. If anyone calls BS I use it to my advantage and then say that I will show the real card to people in trade if they pay me 5 gold. In addition I usually try to say something along the lines of "I can't believe I won - maybe Blizzard increased the drop chance for the purples or something." This is usually enough to get a good buzz going and helps my Mysterious Fortune Card sales quite a bit.

If I am doing it with a high value item I simply mention the item and talk up how awesome and / or rare it is along with saying how I would love to buy it if I had the money. This serves to tell a large number of people that the item is currently on the auction house and implies that it is something worth buying. While I can't say for certain that this has increased my sales I can say that I have sold quite a few items while, or just after, I talk about them in trade chat.

Both of these tactics can be done if you have only one account but you might not get the full effect. If you are generating buzz for you Mysterious Fortune Cards you might end up getting undercut and have to log out and back in so that you can cancel and repost. Not too much would change for talking up high value items though so that would definitely work if you have just one account.
